I’m definitely more of a nature girl than I am a glitzy glam one, so when my clients tell me their ideas of having their engagement sessions or wedding venues at a rustic location I could squeeze them!! While I do appreciate and love shooting the bling that comes with most weddings, there’s just something timeless about more simple ones. I love, love rustic locations because bringing clients into them brings them to life…I feel like the clients stand out even more than they already do. When Rae and Steve booked me for their August wedding, I immediately googled their venue (Queens County Farm) and my jaw totally dropped. They had picked a gorgeous, potterybarn-style venue complete with a beautiful barn and pretty rustic setting. My dream venue!! So when it came time to shoot their engagement session, we tried and failed to lock in several different barn-y locations. At what seemed like the last minute, Rae told me she had gotten permission to shoot at a beloved local barn and the best part?? We had free range to shoot on the entire beautiful property!! With a perfect red barn that we all loved which was filled with dried wildflowers, a cute swing, a pretty little path and the dreamiest light, ever…I could not have picked a more perfect location for Rae and Steve. A photographer’s dream in every aspect…and even better? Rae and Steve were SO sweet and mellow…not many clients would be willing to climb up on a hay stack for that perfect shot…hehe!! They nailed ever pose, every location and just as the light was absolutely perfect. This sunset session was just breathtaking.
I never, never shoot with the sun at my back…but this was too epic to miss. And those shadows…ahh!
When I say that this barn was filled with dried wildflowers, I mean it was FILLED…heaven!!
