There’s usually some degree of separation between me and my clients…sometimes they’re friends of friends, or people I’ve met in the past. This is the first time I’ve been able to say that I know the groom from being in fire department training together!! Ian and I spent many, many Sundays together while going through basic fire department classes 9 years ago. Who knew that the guy in turnout gear next to me would one day be in front of my camera in a tux! Ian is energetic, sharp and his explosive laugh is contagious…so when I first met Melissa and watched them together, I knew they both had found their soulmates. Their banter is so sweet and playful and even some of their mannerisms are the same…I don’t think I’ve ever met a couple so in sync! I meet and work with hundreds of couples, and Ian and Melissa are two of the most beautiful people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing; listening to them describe their vision for their big day, I knew this would be quite a grand love to capture. And with New Year’s Day nuptials, there is no better way to start a new beginning. On a chilly Friday afternoon, Ian and Melissa exchanged the vows they wrote for each other in one of Nyack’s most beautiful churches. Surrounded by family, friends and radiating with love, they said “I do.”
How gorgeous are these Christmas lights?! They completely make these portraits.
The groom and groomsmen got ready at Ian’s firehouse, of course!
Congratulations, Ian + Melissa! xo
