You may remember Taylor and Mike’s stunning law school proposal photos last year…which totally went viral and landed their beautiful love story on the top proposal website in the world: How He Asked.com. When Mike and Taylor told me they wanted me to shoot the wedding, I began counting down the days because I knew it would be such a glorious milestone to shoot. Taylor and Michael are literally the happiest people I’ve ever met, let alone worked with! Their love for each other and the giddiness they bring out in each other shows in very portrait I’ve ever taken of them. Having your photo taken is not a natural thing…I would especially know because my second shooter actually did portraits OF me last week and at times I felt so totally awkward (the photos came out gorgeous, by the way!) When genuine laughs, gestures and facial expressions to reveal themselves in your images, that’s the sign of a truly talented photographer as well as truly happy people! Forced smiles can look pretty but it’s those belly laughs, those smiling-with-your-eyes images that really radiate…and Mike and Taylor absolutely shine.

I’ve known Michael’s family since I was tiny…his younger brother and I were in the same grade and went to school together for most of our childhood. Mike’s mom was the school nurse and one of the sweetest souls I’ve ever known! I make a point to connect and relate to each one of my clients, their families, friends, bridesmaids, everyone!…especially when I don’t know anyone previously. Shooting Taylor and Michael’s wedding was no different except for the fact that I knew their ENTIRE families! I love meeting new people but I do have to say that it is an absolute blast photographing people I already have relationships with. They know me, they are more comfortable in front of my camera, they know I’ll laugh with them, advise them on what posing looks good and most of all, they know I will deliver what I say I will because they’ve worked with me before. All these factors help form a trust and a level of comfort that makes our interaction more intimate, fun and natural. It also helps that these families are FUN!!

From Taylor’s gorgeous dress to Mike’s custom-tailored tux, this wedding was SO them. There’s no other way to put it! Taylor and Michael are so similar and so different while still being the same tempo…the details of their wedding represented each of their personalities so well and brought both of them together…not an easy task! Her theme being blush, silver and grey, Taylor’s pretty colors were perfectly complimented by the deep blue of the cloudless sky above their waterfront venue. Glowy, flowy and surrounded by love, Taylor and Mike said “I do!”
