When when beautiful bride Blair asked me if I would photograph her wedding, I couldn’t even correctly type out my “yes” response! It was riddled with typos because I was so excited for so many reasons. Not only was this wedding going to be in Texas (yay, destination wedding!) but the groom, Matt, is my cousin! And even more reason to squeal, the couple have an unbelievably adorable 3-year old son named Jefferson who I knew would be a star on his parents’ wedding day. The absolute gift of my “job” as a wedding photographer is that I get to capture the most intense love on one of the most important days of peoples’ lives…so the idea of photographing my own family’s joy and love had me floating on pure joy.
We flew out to Dallas/Fort Worth amidst all the crazy flooding that had been going on for days prior and saw so much of the devastation, even just on our drive from the airport. The morning of the wedding, we all woke up to see a very ominous sky (although rain on a wedding day is good luck, right?!) and even though it drizzled throughout the wedding and during portraits, we were able to find a dream of a location to give the illusion of a (dry!) and sunny day. So with the rain coming down, the wedding day began. I was so excited to meet little Jefferson for the very first time and to photograph every sweet and goofy facial expression he threw at me!! To directly quote him…he looked “sharp!” And he SO did! After getting him into the smallest and cutest suit ever made, Blair shared with me a letter written to her by Matt (swoon) minutes before she walked down the aisle. Surrounded by family and friends, Blair and Matt exchanged vows (and shared a sweet prayer with their little boy) in a beautiful and sweet ceremony. A dream!
Little dude checking himself out! Adorable!
I finally got to take a photo with one of my brides! And my own cousin-in-law! Yay!
Congratulations, Blair and Matt! Love you!
