At every event I shoot, whether it’s a proposal, a wedding or portraits for a newborn, I connect with my clients in some way; 5-day old babies are all about touch and 90-year old Nana’s are about deep conversation. But the most challenging is always teens! I’m at the age where I’m young enough to still be relatable (but definitely not cool!) but I’m old enough to still be “just the photographer”, so connecting with clients at bar/bat mitzvahs and sweet sixteens are definitely the most challenging. So when I automatically click with a teen, it makes my job SO much easier and fun! The goofiness is amplified, there are richer, deeper portraits because the client is comfortable and genuine. So when I first met sweet Gabriella, I totally got her…mainly because she reminded me so much of myself! She’s so wise beyond her age and her personality is just electric. Just in the short time that I spent with her and her wonderful family, I could see how caring she was…not many teenage girls take the time to chat with older guests at their events while they have fun bouncing all around them! Surrounded by family and friends (and a whole lot of pink!) Gabriella owned the dance floor!
