Nothing amazes me more than DIY brides…the creativity and visions and the ability of my brides to actually make beautiful wedding day details never ceases to amaze me. When Danielle asked me to shoot her wedding to longtime love, Kevin, we immediately began talking colors, styles and themes. I had no idea until the day of the wedding how much work Danielle actually put into every detail…she even made her own bouquets!! I definitely attract mellow clients…I can say with absolute honesty that ALL of my past and current couples are very laid back. The perks of having non-bridezillas? The wedding day is calm enough that I can get the shots I need without being rushed, yelled at, etc…and Danielle’s bridal prep (and entire wedding day, really!) epitomized this amazing level of calm. Both Danielle and Kevin’s families are SO sweet and easygoing, so when I say that this wedding was a beautiful breeze…I’m not lying! And when you tie pure joy in….magic!

Danielle wore a gorgeous, shorter dress that resembled her mother’s own wedding dress (gorgeous!!), a subtle but breathtaking bird cage and royal blue shoes which matched the accents on her pretty flowers. What I absolutely adore about this wedding is that almost every detail has some sort of significance…everything from Danielle and Kevin’s rings, to the bracelet Danielle wore were family heirlooms…right up my genealogical nerd alley!! The simple elegance of this pretty wedding was unlike anything I’ve seen.

First look…too sweet!

Our original plan was to run down to the River quickly before the ceremony to get some gorgeous shots but of course A. The spot we chose was locked up tight B. It was rainy, overcast and windy C. Poor Danielle was freezing!! So with a little convincing, I got them out there for a few shots…well worth the shivering!! Every bride and groom NEEDS separate portraits in a different location, just for them. So glad they trusted me 🙂

The first moment after the ceremony is always my favorite…real, raw emotion. Tears!!
