Half the fun of being a proposal and wedding photographer is that during the off season, I am able to take on jobs that I typically wouldn’t during our busy season; Bar/Bat Mitzvahs keep me busy and inspired throughout the chilly months when, in the past, I would otherwise be home with little office work to do. How boring!! So when I decided to take on other events instead of having a normal photographer’s vacation, it was easily one of the greatest decisions of my career. The families and people I get to meet beat are invaluable to me. Families like Daniel’s are a total reminder of why I made this decision to work during the off season; the laughs I belted out during my time with them is reason enough!! Between mom’s hilarious antics to get genuine smiles out of everyone, to Daniel’s goofy photos with dad, I absolutely had a blast shooting with this family! I always say that it’s a photographer’s job to take stunning portraits, but to also encapsulate each client’s personality…because otherwise, whose portrait are you taking?? I aim to make sure every portrait of every client shows off their character, whether it be the dimples they only get with a real smile, or the nervous way they tend to hold their hands because it’s comforting….these are all genuine things that should be in real portraits! Daniel and each of his siblings had such distinct and sweet characteristics and mannerisms, that it was a breeze to photograph them. And how cute are they?! Because Daniel’s party was on Saturday night, we got portraits out of the way before Shabbos on Friday afternoon…leaving only time to party on Saturday night! With a fun and colorful blue and orange theme (Daniel obviously loves the Mets!!), a magician, amazing dessert treats and tons of dancing with family and friends, Daniel’s Bar Mitzvah was as energetic and full of laughs as he is!
