Very rarely do I ever shoot an engagement session in the same place more than once; even if it’s the same area (i.e.: Central Park) I will never actually pose couples in a place where I’ve already done portraits, unless the clients specifically ask! Shooting in new places is always such an adventure, and most of the time, the clients choose a certain place because it holds some significance to them. I absolutely love this because aside from getting to know my clients during their session, they also show me around and share so many beautiful and important stories with me about why they chose that place for their portraits!! Deepening that connection with my clients and being in their element with them really makes our sessions and our clients’ experiences with us truly unique. So when Christine and Daniel told me they wanted to do their engagement session at Liberty State Park, I knew it was a winner before I even did my site visit!! First, this park is absolutely enormous. It’s right on the water and features a one-of-a-kind view of the New York City skyline that really takes your breath away. And even better, the park has so many different features that can literally turn your session into any style you’d like…we took ours from architectural to beachy, to industrial to park-stroll in 2 hours! And my favorite part about this session? Christine and Daniel brought their dogs…Drake and Eli!! You’d never know that this session took place on a 95 degree day, in a jam-packed park and after we watched a downpour just miss us (we actually saw it come down over the city!) we finished up with a gorgeous early-Summer sunset…what a session! I cannot wait for Daniel and Christine’s July wedding!!
