It’s common for a lot of wedding photographers to A. Have blogs to showcase their work/allow clients to easily share their images and B. To feature the occasional personal post. One of the most popular is, of course, the behind-the-scenes shots and footage! My second photographers already know that if something good is happening that won’t necessarily be delivered to the client…namely something embarrassing that happens to US, that they totally need to document it for this very post! And of course, I return the favor! And with hundreds of events per-year, a lot can happen. So aside from embarrassing moments, a whole year brings a big ol’ bundle of beauty, inspiration and joy. So below I have compiled just a few of my absolute favorite ring shots, bouquets and portraits and what I love about them. Keep scrolling for the goofier stuff!
FAVORITE | RING SHOTS
The colors and flower combo in this bridesmaid’s bouquet had me completely in love…so, so rich! The colors feel like they’re swirling.
I’m actually not sure how I was able to successfully balance this beauty of a ring on this dried Chinese Lantern but I’m so glad that gravity was in my favor! That orange color will never get old.
When you have the opportunity to pose a ring shot on a firetruck that’s almost 100 years old, you go for it!!
FAVORITE | BOUQUETS
I loved this bouquet so much that it made the cover of our 2016 bridal guide! Ow, ow!!
FAVORITE | PORTRAITS
This session was taken within minutes of sunrise… there was still frost on the ground!
This shot is typically done with a veil, but since our bride, Taylor had a shorter style one, we used the train of her dress…and instead of having my second photographer drop it to make a pretty swoop, I had her pull it up higher because I LOVED the sharp angle. I have yet to do that again! One-of-a-kind.
This is a wedding reality if I’ve ever seen one. So this stunning venue (a literal chateau!) suffered a power outage minutes before we were set to do our second round of bride and groom portraits…ahh!! My second shooter, Susan and I came up with a quick game plan and the final result was beautiful silhouette shots. Instantly one of my favorite shots of all time…especially in black and white! (notice the completely dark lanterns in the front?!)
At the same wedding, a slip-up by the venue delayed portraits significantly. After calming our beautiful bride, we rushed them down to the venue’s pond and captured these fairytale-like shots well-after sunset.
Andrew was so excited, he couldn’t help himself!! Love this reaction!!
I have never seen sun flare patterns like this…gah! Just beautiful. And the red of that barn?? Timeless!
BEHIND-THE-SCENES
I never realized how…unfriendly…I look when I’m not smiling. Scariest wedding photographer, ever!
Our clients LOVE that we aren’t in their faces throughout the wedding. Our style has always been to hang back and to capture moments as they unfold rather than stage every. single. moment. In comes the telephoto lens which is my favorite tool in capturing every tear-jerking moment while not interfering with the actual wedding. Also known as the “ninja shot!” Ninja shot of me while taking a ninja shot!
Photographer and advice giver extraordinaire!
I can’t believe that I also shot their proposal! Love these two in front of my camera.
My #1 second shooter, Susan!! She’s so fabulous.
I take my job very seriously. lol!
Half the fun of a proposal is setting up the scene for clients who are flying in from around the world…and having an audience as well! They thought I was just nuts.
And my favorite thing…client “selfies!”
The best team around!
Seriously…a HUGE shout out to every amazing talent who has ever shot a beautiful event with me. I could never express my gratefulness enough. You guys are the greatest!!
Thank you for a phenomenal, magical wedding season!
What a year, what a year! And so many more adventures await.
2016 has arrived.
